Positions Available at YAHS

The Young Artist’s Harp Seminar seeks several Counselor/Apprentices and one Teaching Assistant each season to assist with all seminar activities. We are looking for individuals with high moral and artistic values, who will serve not only as teachers and supervisors, but also as mentors and role models to our students. The minimum age to apply for both positions is 21.

Teaching Assistant

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Music in harp or the equivalent. The Teaching Assistant will work closely with the Artist Faculty to assist in all daily activities of the seminar including teaching private lessons, leading classes, and directing and coaching harp ensemble. The TA interacts closely with students, resides in the dormitory, and assists in driving and chaperoning students for recreational activities.

Counselor/Apprentices

Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 26, have completed one year of college, have a strong background in harp, and include the harp as an important focus of their daily lifestyle. Counselors will be required to assist in daily supervision of students both on campus and off site as we engage in area recreational activities. The counselor will be required to assist in transportation of students to recreational activities: a driver’s license and vehicle large enough to transport a concert grand harp are necessary. The counselor may also assist in teaching and leadership of harp-related activities and workshops. Strong ensemble and music theory skills are preferred. In exchange for these duties, the counselor will receive full tuition, room, and board for the 2010 Young Artist’s Harp Seminar season, and participate fully in the YAHS program (private lessons not included). Participation in harp ensemble is required.
